THE SOURCE MATERIAL: LIGHT NOVELS |
---|
The source material for all of the Danmachi media is the Light Novel: published by GA Bunko, it began releasing on January 15, 2013. However, the first ever Danmachi story was in the format of a Web Novel: Fujino Omori started publishing it under the full title on platforms like Shousetsuka ni Narou and Arcadia, which allow users to publish their own stories without paying. For GA Bunko's 4th competition for authors, Omori changed the title to "Familia Myth" and submitted his story, which then won and was bought by GA Bunko which published it under its full title "Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatte Iru Darou ka?", with "Familia Myth" being the subtitle. While i'm still deciding which pages to add to this shrine, HERE's a great page on the Danmachi Fandom Wiki that has great summaries of each Familia Myth volume under the section "Plot". |
MAJOR SPIN-OFFS: SO & FC |
---|
The main two spin-offs of the series are Sword Oratoria and Familia Chronicle. Sword Oratoria's publishing began in 2014, with its full title being "Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka Gaiden Sword Oratoria" ("Gaiden" quite literally means "Side Story"). It was originally supposed to focus on Ais but, since the author stated he wants to talk about her more in the main story, the focus significantly shifted on Lefiya's character. It is illustrated by Kiyotaka Haimura and, as of November 2024, it counts 14 volumes, with a 15th one due for January 2025. Again, HERE you can find quick summaries of each volume on the Danmachi Fandom Wiki, under the "plot" section. However they're missing Volume 14, lol. Familia Chronicle is another spin-off that, so far, counts three volumes: Episode Ryuu (1 and 2) and Episode Freya, all illustrated by Nilitsu. The original idea for Familia Chronicle came from a Web Novel short story called "Grand Casino wo Buttsubuse" that focused on Ryuu and was created in 2016. Same thing happened with the second volume, Episode Freya (centered obviously around Freya), that had its first chapter released as a Web Novel standalone and the other two being written for the LN release in 2019. This one recieved a manga adaptation as well. |
